The Silk Banner construction was coordinated by Radio
Op CPL Darrin Gibson from 104 Sig Sqn on Operation Anode in the Solomon
Islands in 2004. It is a enormous engraved wooden rosewood scroll
carved by a master craftsman in the Solomon Islands, with a silk
banner hanging off it. On the scroll is the nominal roll of 104 Sig Sqn
for South Vietnam (1st Australian Task Force) and on the bottom the
Solomon Islands (Combined Joint Task Force 635).
The Silk Banner proudly hangs in the 1CSR Abraham Club (unit boozer)
with carved icons of all the trades within our Corps, as well as
traditional icons such as; slouch hat, rising sun and an armoured vehicle
for all to see.
